Adam Shewmaker, FHFMA

Professional Experience

Adam has more than 20 years of experience providing healthcare consulting services to numerous healthcare organizations, including community-based hospitals, specialty surgery hospitals, multihospital systems, multi-specialty physician clinics, and managed care payers. In addition to leading Dean Dorton’s healthcare consulting services group, Adam performs revenue cycle operational assessments and process improvement engagements.

Prior to joining Dean Dorton in 2009, Adam served in consulting capacities with Progressive Healthcare, a boutique consulting firm in Nashville, Tennessee, and in Ernst and Young’s national health sciences advisory services practice, where his work was focused on improving revenue cycle performance.

Adam’s overall experience is tailored toward strategically managing accounts receivable and improving overall cash performance for hospitals and physician groups. Past consulting services engagements have included interim leadership roles, cash acceleration initiatives, patient access and patient accounting management, revenue cycle assessments and redesign, and denials and staffing analyses. Adam also oversees Dean Dorton Healthcare Solutions, Dean Dorton’s physician medical billing and credentialing services division.
