Years with Dean Dorton: 13
Years in the Industry: 20
Favorite thing about Dean Dorton: Building engagement teams around great clients like Booth Energy and creating tremendous memories. We have a Booth Energy Team Hall of Fame where we recognize a staff and a client each year. My first job at Dean Dorton was to work on Booth Energy in Pikeville. I remember having a meal with David Richard at the Applebee’s in Pikeville and having him turn the Booth Energy keys over to me. Lots of great people have worked on this job over the years. We have visited unique Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia locations but all roads lead to Lovely, Kentucky.
Biggest firm accomplishment: Our Energy Group grew by $1.8 million over a period of five years. Market forces have shrunk our group, but our team is finding valuable ways to help clients through the changes, which is reflected by 25% growth during 2015. Our group has been very resilient to market challenges and exists as a very diverse group that can navigate these dramatic times in our space.
Hobbies: UK Basketball (24/7), Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, coaching basketball, running our girls (Hannah, 11 and Hadley, 9) around town
Interesting fact: Initiated a partnership with the University of Kentucky’s internal audit class to find real-world audit projects in our community for the students. I have worked with about 20 students over the past few years and am currently working with marketing on an article to capture this unique experience. My retirement plans include teaching at UK so in essence I have already started.
